Robert Simonds, STX Entertainment Chairman and CEO is a former producer who worked in Hollywood for about 22 years. In his career, Robert Simonds produced above 30 films, that had a cumulative global box office revenue of $6 billion.

In 2014, Bob Simonds founded STX Entertainment, a film producing, financing, distributing and marketing company, along with Bill McGlashan. McGlashan is the managing partner of TPG Growth, the first financial supporter of STX Entertainment. Bob Simonds had a vision of producing star attached films that would be distributed globally. He believes that instead of producing platform-driven content, the industry should make star-driven content that the people will better connect to, and will bring in more profits.

Since the inception of STX Entertainment in 2014, Robert Simonds expanded the company to China. STX Entertainment is funded by Chinese equity firm Hony Capital, Tencent Holdings Limited (the largest online products and services provider in China), and PCCW, who is the largest Internet and cable services provider in Southeast Asia. These connections helped the company expand in China, and subsequently influence the global media. STX Entertainment produced Number One Surprise in 2016, which was the first ever TV series by a US based company to be produced for broadcast in China specifically. It also acquired the Chinese distribution rights of Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve and the 2018 Golden Globe Awards from Dick Clark Productions. Bob Simonds, STX Entertainment Chairman and CEO wants to unite the entertainment industries of China and America. This would help create a better global entertainment scenario.

STX Entertainment has grown tremendously under the leadership of Robert Simonds. STX Entertainment now has several divisions, namely- STXfilms for film production, STXtelevision for television productions, STXdigital for live events and shows.

STX Entertainment has also entered the VR world. Its division STXsurreal was launched after its acquisition of VR content creator Surreal. STXsurreal creates and distributes content for VR. It has many upcoming projects with big names like Michelle Rodriguez and Dave Bautista.

Robert Simonds started STX Entertainment as a star-driven enterprise in the American film industry, and has successfully transformed it into a global entertainment giant with its presence in production and distribution of all types of entertainment content. His team features television and film industry giants like former Viacom Entertainment Group COO Tom McGrath and former Discovery Group CFO Andrew Warren, who both serve the same positions at STX Entertainment now. Former CEO of Crest Amination, Noah Fogelson is the executive vice president of corporate strategy at STX. With a team of experienced personalities, and his innovative techniques in developing the world entertainment organization, it is safe to assume that Robert Simonds will take STX Entertainment, and with it the films and TV industries to even better places.
